Carolyn Schlam
Carolyn Schlam is an award winning American painter and glass artist born and raised in New York City. She studied painting with Norman Raeben, youngest son of the Yiddish writer, Sholem Alecheim, in Carnegie Hall and glassmaking at Urban Glass in Brooklyn. She presently resides and has her studio in Taos, New Mexico where she continues in the pursuit of her passion-- painting in oil, drawing from life, and crafting confections of glass, clay and other media.
Carolyn Schlam is the author of a book on the creative process entitled “The Creative Path: Process and Practice”. This book is currently with an agent in New York and has been submitted for publication. She is currently working on a sequel for children entitled WHAT DOES AN ARTIST DO? CAN I BE AN ARTIST TOO?
Several exciting projects are in the works for 2012. Firstly, she is creating a series of paintings of young women and flowers entitled “In Bloom”. It is an artist’s dream to create these lush images of life at the height of sensuality, innocence, delicacy and beauty. The paintings will be “simply beautiful” and Carolyn will seek a museum to launch the show.
Also in the works are lots of adorable images for art for children for which Carolyn will seek licensing opportunities.
And finally, Carolyn is adding wood to her craft tool box, making small sculptures in glass, ceramic, found objects, metal and now wood.
Please contact the artist if you are a museum or gallery, publisher or collector interested in any of the work you see here, or are interested in commissioning work.
