OTHER MEDIA Constitutionally an image maker, I come to other media with an engineering deficit- I know how to make something “appear” to exist, but actually getting it to stand up in three dimensions is a challenge.   The first “other media” to fascinate me was glass, probably because of its transparency and ability to hold the light.   I am a warm glass worker, making fused and cast glass in a kiln.  I have also experimented with combining the glass with hand built clay parts and found objects.   My work in other media is playful and uncomplicated.   I consider it to be folk art, because even though I am a trained and educated painter, when it comes to building things, I am a child with her “tinker toys.”   Hope you enjoy.
